Cancer facts
In the early years it was believed that the cancer was the disease of the industrialized nations. But the latest findings by the World Health Organization and other international health organizations have shown that this disease is now more of a disease of the developing countries. The latest research have shown that majority of the cancer related deaths have occurred in the middle and low income countries. It has also been revealed that the about 12 million deaths would occur in 2030 due to cancer only. It has also been revealed that 30 percent of the cancer cases can be avoided by having a healthy life style. This includes abstaining from tobacco altogether, switching to a healthy diet, and leading a physically active life. In fact tobacco has been found to be the biggest avoidable cause of cancer all over the world. It has been discovered that there are more than 100 types of cancers. Any part of the human anatomy can be affected by this deadly disease. The most common types of cancer found in men are the lung cancer, the cancer of the liver, stomach cancer and the esophagus cancer. Another type of cancer that is fact assuming alarming proportions is the cancer of the mesothelium that forms a protective lining around majority of the internal organs of the human body. This cancer is known as the mesothelioma. So far a comprehensive treatment for this cancer has still not been found. |
